I just can't do this with my two girls right now. In my dream, I am available to drop my girls off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. It is really hard to find a satisfying job to fit these hours. So, I dream instead.
My dream would be to work from home, writing light hearted fun pieces for local papers, magazines or blogs. I also wouldn't be afraid of more hard hitting pieces. I would furiously meet each deadline with hours to spare. The boss would clap me on the back. I'd smile and get back to the typewriter (I use a typewriter in my dreams), back to writing because I can start another piece before school pick up. I'd also be a great speller with excellent grammar. Then in my time between articles, I would be a product photographer, I have the equipment, I have the dreams, I am only short the products. In my other dream I am a Supermodel. Ahh, it's so much fun to dream.
What are your dreams?
I dream of writing from home as well...the products would be a lovely bonus! It's hard to find a job that fits school hours and pays reasonably well. At the moment I work night shift - which is quite blah, but it's what we have to do. In the meantime, I will keep dreaming....and take some steps to turn those dreams into reality.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, At the moment I'd do it for free, if it meant I was on the right track. Not realistic either. At least we can to practice our writing in the meantime. :) Thanks for commenting. Rachel
ReplyDeleteI hear you. I'd love to write a book. I've had the idea in my head for more than 20 years but haven't started putting it on paper yet. I hope you find something that suits you and your family :)
ReplyDeleteMisha, What sort of book? Have you visited the "Farmers got a wife" blog. She has been putting her book on there chapter by chapter. I am always so impatient for the next chapter. I hope you do start your book - i'll definitely read it. Rachel x
ReplyDeleteSometimes, after a long day at work (or often, and even longer day at home with the Small Child!) I dream of decorating cakes, or being a chocolatier. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteOh Ms Mandie, Just like the book (or movie) Chocolat. That's is a lovely dream.

ReplyDeleteI dream of writing. (not really surprising for a blogger I know) One day I just know it will no longer be a dream but reality
ReplyDeleteYvette, I love that dream. There are so many places out there to provide information. I think your dream could be a reality. Very exciting! Rachel x
ReplyDeleteRihanna, I need some of your positivity, you are definitely going to achieve your dreams. Rxx
Yep I love your dream of making a living from writing as well ... imagine if I could be the PAID editor of Footprints magazine instead of a volunteer! I think I'd die of happiness ;-)
ReplyDeletePS I reckon you should try approaching your local paper, see if they want you to do a regular column xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Footprints, Being the paid editor would be excellent. I hope that happens eventually. I have contacted the local paper, but they aren't responding. I'll keep contacting them until they do. What I may lack in experience, I make up for in persistance :)
ReplyDeleteRachel x
I want to write, I dream of it, have always dreamt of it. There's a novel in me... somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find something to keep you happy and fit in with your family.
Also, my necklace arrived, thank you so so much x
Hi Becky, I am glad you received the necklace. You should write a novel, you are such a good writer. I mentioned in a earlier comment about the blog "the farmers has a wife' (I got the name wrong earlier - sorry)

She is writing a book and puts the chapters up regularly. I think she is fantastic and it's a great way to get into the novel writing. I would love to read whatever you write. Rachel x
