The last book suggestion I made was 'The Help'. This book was fantastic, we all seemed to really love it. It was a great meeting that month. I felt great that it was my suggestion and it was such a winner.
We are meet up in 10 minutes to talk about this months book, 'The Wedding Letters'. This book was also my suggestion. I had read great things about it and felt confident putting it forward. Fast forward a few months and I can't believe I wasted my time and all the other book club members on this trash.
Do not believe the crazy ratings on Amazon
I had to force myself to read this. I can not believe how bad it was. Has anyone else read this? Do you have any awesome books to recommend that I can put forward and I can take complete credit for?
This was on my Amazon wish list. I am so glad I didn't order it. I am reading Hunger Games at the moment. 1/2 through 2nd book. Surprisingly enjoyable. :)
ReplyDeleteQuietly enjoying your blog. Miss E
Hi Miss E, I would give this a wide swerve and consider yourself lucky you didn't order it :)/
DeleteI love Hunger Games too. Rachel x
I'd love to be a member of a book club, I might see if there is one here..sounds like so much fun xo Your newest follower btw xo
ReplyDeleteHi Farmers Wifey,Book clubs are great. We have a few 'distant' members. They read the books and comment and score by email. You are welcome to participate. xx
ReplyDeleteI hate that...when you recommend a book...a movie...a restaurant...and it SUCKS!!!! I read "The Slap" this week...and LOVED it. My sister raved about the tv series, but I missed it...am watching on T Box...different from the book...but both good.

ReplyDeleteYeah, it did really suck but hopefully my next recommendation will redeem me. I would love to read the slap. Maybe that should be my next one. Rachel x
DeleteI can recommend two books -
ReplyDeleteThat Woman; Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor
(gives insight into the history of the King's abdication)
Batavia by Peter FizSimmon (mutiny of the Dutch ship and the lives of the mutineers on the islands off the coast of Western Australia)
Both books based on facts and great reading if you are interested in history.
Andrea
Well hello Andrea, I think I would like That Woman. That time really interests me. I have heard Batavia is good. Rxxx
DeleteI haven't read that one yet. And sadly, have no books to recommend at the moment. The only one that has always stuck in my head is The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. Read this ages ago. It's part of a trilogy. A bit slow at first, but it pulls you in as you read it.
ReplyDeleteHi Norlin, I haven't heard of the Bronze Horseman. I will have to check it out. Thanks for your suggestion. Rachel x
DeleteHow disappointing! It just shows you can't trust star ratings. I have read the Help and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI think two books that would be really good book club material would be S.J. Watson's Before I Go To Sleep and Deborah Rodriguez' The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul. I have reviewed them both on my blog and would have loved to be able to discuss them with someone:) http://glossy-beauty.blogspot.com.au/p/what-im-reading.html X
Hi Ingrid, I loved Before I go to sleep. Such a different book. I want another one like this!! I will have to check the other one out. Rachel x
