Mmm Coffee

It's no secret I love coffee. I wake up early (5am early) and then have two cups one after the other. I love my Nespresso machine and the delicious coffee it makes.

My Nespresso stopped working and is getting fixed. All I could find in my cupboard was Nescafe 45.  Noooo. This is for my MIL when she visits.  Life is too short for bad coffee.

I think I will have a cup of tea instead.

PS: Nespresso have been awesome. They are sending over a replacement while they fix my original machine. I only need to slum it for a few days.

Hello lover...

I have just spent a few days on Moreton Island. As you may already know, I was missing COFFEE!! I like to have a few cups as soon as I wake up. Bam, bam, bam.

When I got home I noticed my husband had installed this. A Nespresso capsule dispenser. Sometimes he is awesome.

Bloody Insomnia

I was awake all night and at about 2am I gave up and came downstairs. I watched the movie "The Other Guys" with Will Ferrell and Marky Mark (he'll always be Marky Mark to me). Will Ferrell's face makes me laugh. Silly movies are always really funny when you are delirious from lack of sleep. I ended up falling asleep around 5.30am to be awoken 5 minutes later with my oldest crunching on cereal beside me.

My eyelids feel like they are made from sandpaper and there is a paper weight attached to the top of my head but I have injected coffee, had a long shower and now feel slightly more human.

After the school run I am looking forward to having coffee with Lisa from Mrs BC at Reef Point Cafe. Then in the afternoon watching '21 Jump Street' at AMC (Hoyts) Kippa Ring with my sister. I use to love the series and I don't mind a bit of Channing Tatum so this should be fun.

Neli Coffee - For the True Coffee Lover

I had been hearing whispers about Neli Coffee for a little while and the whisper had recently turned in a roar. A close friend, Lisa Vanderzalm from Car Bizz must be one of their biggest fans and insisted I head down there immediately. As a serious coffee lover, I will be eternally gratefully to Lisa. Janelle and Edward roast their own beans on site a few times a week. I was lucky enough to be there to watch the process. It was mesmerising! These guys are so friendly and informative and make the meanest cup of coffee I have had in a while.

Not only do they roast beans and make awesome coffee, they sell Espresso appliances and paraphernalia and give training and advice. Neli also supplies coffee beans to various local businesses too.

They have a great selection of beans to pick from, so I think you'll be seeing me jittery on caffeine for a while. I think I'll be hitting this Peninsula gem a few times a week at least.

I am so proud that we have such a wonderful business on the peninsula.

Saturday Morning...

We had such a nice morning. Our only plan was to buy some craft fabric from JJ Bargain Centre on Sutton Street. The girls were giggling gleefully at each delightful treasure they "had to have". After 30mins of tough negotiations, they settled on 6 fabrics. Then off on a nice, slow walk to find some canvas. We enjoying buskers and dropped in to visit Steve Whitfield at the SeeArt Gallery. He only shows art from local artists and they are fantastic. I'll be devoting a lot more time to this gallery soon. Then picking up a perfect coffee and cannolo (singular of cannoli, but still doesn't look right) from the cute coffee nook Nerosso on Redcliffe Parade. Home to create some crafty, masterpieces but only created mounds of shredded fabric and a dog in a purple skirt.

Mouth-watering delights at The Sugar Deli

My sister and I decided to visit "The Sugar Deli" for one of their famous desserts. They have only been set up for a few months and word has spread fast about Sara's huge, mouth-watering, desserts and excellent coffee. I would like to say that my sister and I are well know for our bird-like appetites, but this would be a massive lie. In fact, we are quite greedy girls and were looking forward to this challenge very much.

We stood drooling in front of the choices for about 30 minutes before we decided to split a Mocha Stack. Coffees and cake came out quickly. The coffee was excellent. The cake was a massive, glistening, mountain of sponge, meringue, mocha, maybe a mascapone mix of some sort and served with cream and jam. We picked up our forks and attacked with gusto. Half way through our pace slackened, by 3/4 we were in slow motion. We did not give up.

Afterwards, we slowly crawled across the road, torn between taking the children to the conveniently located Scarborough Park or the beach. The beach narrowly won. We contently lounged in the sun as the children ran off steam. I am going to make it a personal goal to try one of their desserts every week. A person needs goals.

If you are not a sweet tooth, they also serve a selection of delicious savoury food, amazing deli platters and a mean breakfast.
