TLC Fun Run

Do you want to drag your warm snuggly family outside, into the cold and get them moving? Me too!!

The Lakes College Fun Run in North Lakes is the perfect opportunity. It's held on the 19th August, is a fantastic run and is great for beginners. You can choose a distance of either 2km, 6km or 10km. I love the 10km but now my girls have hopped on fun run band wagon and I'll do the 2km with them. This is an excellent distance for their little legs or for beginners. The 2km run is around the lake and you are so distracted by the beauty you won't even notice you have been exercising. You will love the proud look on the children's faces when they have completed the run.
Afterwards, they supply water and fruit for the runners or you can head out to a local cafe for breakfast to refuel your bodies. I'm thinking Watercrest Restaurant in Evergreen Centre.

You can register at www.tlcfunrun.org.au and families will receive a discount.

Would you let your young daughter wear these?

Today I took my daughter shopping at Westfield Northlakes. While we were in Big W she came across a pair of shoes she completely fell in love with. I can understand the fast and intense love you get when you find the perfect shoe and because of this I will sometimes cave in. These shoes were only $25 and would keep her lovely, perfect feet warm in winter. They were also a great and practical colour for mixing into her wardrobe.

My lovely 6 year old daughter had fallen in love with a pair of wedged desert boots and I am not talking about a little appropriate child height wedge. My 17 old niece wouldn't have been able to walk in these (sorry Mariah, but it's true), even my sister would have struggled (also true). These child sized 13 boot had a heel height around 4cm. My daughter would be lucky to be 110cm tall. So, if I mentally recalculate this heel height for my height of 170cm (well 169cm) it would be about 6-7cm high heel on me.
Seriously, I wonder who decided this was an excellent idea for little girls?

PS: I didn't buy these and would never. Shocked that Big W would even be selling them.

Avoiding Christmas Shopping

I should be busy trying to catch up on all my Christmas shopping and wrapping but I am excited because I have a tripod and remote for my camera. Dorky I know. I was sitting here twiddling my thumbs wondering what to take a photos of. Looking at my twiddling thumbs I noticed they needed a manicure. Bingo! The results were a lame Christmas inspired french polish and I could have taken the photo without the remote. I used Sally Hansen Cafe Au Lait (the best nude colour) and Bloom Aspen.

I also found a hair donut and decided to attempt an updo. I have never used one before and I think it would be a lot easier if I my hair was a little thicker.

I let my daughter play with my camera too. I love this photo she took of herself. Isn't she cute.
After putting it off all morning I headed out to North Lakes, again.  I still wasn't able to get all my shopping done, but I had fun with my six year old playing with all the testers in Target. We also tried out the new Sushi bar, it's located between Dymocks and Dan Murphy's. It was good and the service was fast. I could have sat for hours watching the hypnotic food go round and round.

Monkey Business

So I have had a loooong night.  My 8 year old had her first sleep-over birthday party.  There was only a couple of extra girls and these are really, lovely girls.  Was I naive to assume they would jump off to bed and fall asleep the moment I asked them too?  I thought I was pretty good letting them stay up slightly past bed time and generously give them 15 minutes of quiet talking time.  After an hour of humorous, then good natured, to annoyed, then grumpy warnings, I managed to get them asleep about 9/9.30pm.  I thought that was pretty good.  But seriously, what on earth could they have to say to each other, that requires them to wake up at 3.30am to start again??

So today, I needed to make my life a little easier and we went to Monkey Business in North Lakes.  Kids go crazy for this place.  I found a good spot to sit, stay, watch and work. I tried to arrange for coffee to be delivered intravenously, they couldn't help.  But, I did arrange back to back coffees and real cokes.  This was definitely a real coke day.  No diet or Zero. They have free Wi-Fi, so people like me can work on their iPad while the children exhaust themselves.  If I had more energy I would definitely have visited Sk8Mania at the other end.  I am a skater from way back.  I am not one to brag or anything, but last time I visited Sk8 Mania I won Red Rover.
