Stylish Thoughts...

At Blogopolis I attend the Imogen Lamport workshop. Imogen is a successful personal stylist and image consultant and her blog is Inside Out Style. Imogen talked about idea sourcing and content creating. This was a fantastic, informative and useful workshop.

After the workshop I took a deep breath, popped a mint, pulled up my tights and approached her. She was so lovely and kind and gave me her card.

As a direct result of attending Blogopolis and meeting awesome people and I now have a post on her blog Inside Out Style about my Stylish Thoughts. How awesome is that!!
You can find her blog Inside Out Style and my post here ..

How did this happen??

I have a crush on Keith Urban. I have spent years wondering what Nicole saw in him. I thought he was short with bad posture and with a quick trigger finger on the hair straightener. Now, I love watching him on The Voice, he really knows and enjoys every song. He seems so kind and encouraging.

As you know I have been having singing lessons, I wasn't ready for The Voice this time but maybe next time I will be. I am going to sing my little heart out.

I am going to make Seal jump out of his seat and move those hips, click his nail polish clad fingers, smile that gorgeous but smarmy smile.
He decided on yellow hair instead of yellow nails. 'Welcome to The Voice'.
I am going to make Joel's eyes pop open when he hears my first note, he is going to be turning from Keith to Delta like an excited goanna trying to see if they are as excited as he is.
'Hey Seal, Wha'do'ya think?'
I am going to make Delta stop swaying for a moment, then a flash of jealousy will cross her face before she hides it behind a mask of encouragement.
'Puurr, hello Keith. Would you like to play chasey with a kitty?'
And Keith, I am going to make Keith, smile and shake his head and call me baby.
'I am just so happy to be here and I think everyone is awesome'
And then I am going to wake up to my husband and realise it was all a dream and I still sound like poo when I sing.

Best tweet of the night last - 'If Seal told me to start smoking and get a tattoo of my ex on my bum, I would do it'

I probably would too.

Mmmm, Corn fritters

Breakfast is one of my favourite meals and I could happily eat breakfast foods three times a day.

So I was a happy girl when we decided to hit Watercress Restaurant in Northlakes for a Sunday breakfast. I had been hearing a lot about this place run by Al and Rebecca. You don't get a feel for the place from the outside, but inside it has a lovely, relaxed tropical feel. I love that there is space between the tables, I could gesture as big as I wanted and didn't have to apologise to anyone.

I didn't even need to look at the menu, I had heard about the corn fritters and I will climb a mountain, swim an ocean or wear stonewash to reach a good corn fritter. That is how much I love them. Presentation was beautiful (thanks Al), the combination of avocado, poached egg, tomato and sauces were perfect. This greedy girl was satisfied. A big plus for good coffee.

My husband had Eggs Benedict with bacon. He couldn't tell me what he thought he was too busy inhaling this.
The girls also got appropriately sized and priced children's bacon and eggs. I could have taken a photo but didn't because I was too busy eating by then.

As Arnie says "I'll be back".

Botox or Notox? 2 weeks later with photos

It has been two weeks since I visited COZmedics and voluntarily had botox injected between my eyebrows 6 times. The two things people are always asking:
1. Did it hurt? and
2. Can you show me your frown?

Firstly the Pain
I was expecting the worst, I had even considered putting numbing cream across the area before going in. I truly didn't feel any pain, AT ALL. Maybe I am unusually tough, maybe I missed my true calling of a secret government agent able to hold up under torture and not give up government secrets, probably. Or maybe it actually didn't hurt. I would like to send my husband in to see if he thinks it hurts but I really wouldn't want to give up the rest of my day to nurture him back to health.

Secondly, my Frown
Ahh, no! I have been a performing monkey too many times over the last 2 weeks. You have seen my last frown attempt. I went to all the trouble of getting botox to get rid of my frown. You have been looking at it for the last 2, 5 or 10 years, aren't you sick of my frowny face? If I could frown, I would be frowning right now, while I write this rant, right!

Now the photos:
Before - deep lines, especially when I pull this face.
Two days after Botox - Still have slight frown lines.
Two weeks later - I am trying really hard to frown.
I am loving the results and I can see why people get addicted. Will I get it again?? Hopefully, yes. I think I need to find a Botox sponsor for Redcliffe Style.

Lost in the Scarborough Area - Gym motivation

I am fairly active, I have always been a member of a gym. Currently it's Genesis at Rothwell. I really got out of my routine over the Christmas school holidays. It would have cost $8 each day to put my girls into the creche and my budget wouldn't cover it. Lucky I have my trusty Cardio Tech x9 treadmill. Most people are bored by treadmills, I understand but they should really try my technique, iPad2 on magazine rack to play Word with Friends (this does give me a slight handicap, but I manage to win enough games), the most awesome series ever "Boardwalk Empire" on Apple TV in front of me, nice and loud, and the air-conditioning cranked up. I am so distracted I forget I am running. I usually try to run 12-15km each session and I'll do this about 5 times a week.
Last week I ventured out to the gym for the first time on Friday to attend a Body Combat class (thank you Nat).  It was fantastic, the class was so much fun and I am ready to throw myself back into classes and weights, I can't run away forever (a little pun there). When I tried to get out of bed Saturday I felt like I had been ran over by a truck. I could barely walk up stairs. Sunday was even worse, I cried at the idea of going to the toilet. That'll teach me not to be a slacker.

On Wednesday I'll be joining into the spin class, I know there will be tears on Thursday.

10 things you may not know about me...

...you may not know about me.

  1. I am left handed and so is my youngest daughter,
  2. I truly think that I'll win every board game I play. I usually do, but maybe my confidence is intimidating and scares the opponent into just giving up.
  3. I am an insomniac. I go through stages, at the moment I am running on two days with limited sleep. It doesn't bother me too much until I hit a week. Then I completely fall apart.
  4. If I have choice between squeezing a pimple and leaving it, squeezing always wins. I know you are meant to leave them alone but has anyone in the history pimples ever managed to do that?
  5. I can only drive an automatic car. I did start with manual lessons but my teacher was so unkind I stopped and then didn't get my license until I was 20 and then didn't drive a car again until I was 26.
  6. I am allergic to Cinnamon flavouring. If I ate a piece of cinnamon flavoured mint or gum, the inside of my mouth would completely covered in ulcers.
  7. I am vegetarian. When I was about 10 or 12 my parents went through a vegetarian stage.  I never went back. I don't eat fish or chicken but do eat dairy.
  8. Sometimes I have been know to weaken for a particularly good piece of pork crackling. You can't even be sneaky, I have tried. The moment you bite into it, the whole table will be quiet and looking at me shocked. Then they'll feel like they have to remind me I am vegetarian. Like I forgot, I think they just don't want to share the crackling.
  9. I have weak and flaky nails. They won't grow, just peel off like a snake shedding it's skin.
  10. I've had botox.  Shhh, that's just between you and me.
