Why I love Running shoes....

I do love sportswear, running shoes and all the paraphernalia that goes along with them.  Here are a few reasons I love running shoes:
  1. They come in really cool colours. I am like a magpie and love bright things. The brighter the running shoe the more desperately I obsess on them. 'Get in my cupboard' (said in the voice of Fat Bastard from Austin Powers);
  2. When they are new, they feel like you are running on springy-sponges. You feel like a superhero;
  3. You feel fitter as soon as you put them on. (Also check out this and this for other faux fit tips);
  4. When your kids start running away, you are more likely to catch them than if you were wearing heels;
  5. When you run away, your children can't catch up;
  6. They re-motivate you. As soon as you get a new pair, you want to hit the pavement straight away;
  7. They make you walk like you are stronger. Just like P!nk or Jennifer Garner when she was Sydney Bristow in Alias;
  8. You can use them without any other equipment (except clothes and a sports bra)
  9. They don't make your feet hurt if you wear them too long.
  10. They are lighter than any other type of workout shoe. Some of them are like wrapping your feet in a cloud.

Vibram - toe shoes. I reviewed these after a run.

On Tuesdays I link up with IBOT at Essentially Jess

  3. I need to get a pair just so I can feel fitter just by putting them on - love it!!!

  4. So true! I always have a 'good' pair, for actually exercising in, and an 'old' pair, for mowing in and bush trips and the like.

  5. I love my vibrams! Get so many comments! But have not run in them before... don't you feel like you have no support? x

  6. I love my running shoes. I wore one pair out in less than a year, replaced them and then haven't been running as much so they're still like brand new. The first time I wore them I ran a PB at the time. They are like running on air, I love them! Dunno about those Vibrams though. Sorry. hAHA

  8. I am just about due for some new runners but I love mine so much I just can't bear the thought of replacing them. Well that and the fact the replacements will cost so much!

    1. They do cost so much, but a small price for good health

  10. I really struggle to find running shoes that fit well - they make my feet tingle like they are cutting off circulation, but if I loosen them they slip around on my feet. I even went to one of those specialist running shoes shop that film you walking on a treadmill to assess your gait etc and even they were flummoxed. Just special I guess.

  11. My running shoes and I are getting re-equanted... I have some very cute Nikes at the moment - which are so squeaky clean I because I only run on pavements! I really should muddy them up some time!

    I love your bright coloured shoes...

    Can I borrow some motivation please?

  14. Even though I can't say that I like running shoes, I do agree with you on number 6. This is how I felt when I bought my news runners.

  15. I remember hearing Michael Jordan say once that he wears a new pair of shoes every day. Why? New shoes = new attitude. So both you AND Michael Jordan are spot on!

  16. I can't be doing with those toe shoes, they give me the heebie jeebies!! I love the very colourful ones in the first pic. I never have nice exercise shoes or clothes, maybe that's why I'm so unmotivated. Yes! That must be it! Get me to a shoe shop STAT!

  17. I've lost my mojo and my shoes aren't helping me any. I hope I find it soon. Thanks for the link through to the other running shoes, I've always wondered about them.

  18. After reading that all I can hear is my new pair of lavender Asics yelling out to me from the garage - "Get your fat ass out here and put me on" - Great post :) Emily

  19. I love my runners but I am sorely in need of a new pair. They are almost two years old now and while still quite good for just casual out and about I need something with a little more support and cushioning for anything more strenuous.

  20. I always feel refreshed and raring to go when i buy exercise clothing. I have about 50 pairs of workout trousers in 6 different sizes. At least with trainers your shoe size stays thesame. I do have a bit of a shoe fetish, so it might be time to add to my collection, I love clean, bright new trainers. Those Vibrams look pretty uncomfortable though, not sure I will be getting those!

  21. I love my runners but I have only just come to like teh bright colours!

  22. Running ... hmmm ... what's that again?!

  23. Makes such a huge difference when my feet are comfy x

  24. my runners are in grey color with purple accent. I agree with you runners are better on our feet, it makes my ugly feet slimmer. And yes it is light too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just bought some new runners in the sales. I did get mid-heavy ones, but I love light ones best. Boo hoo. Off to check out your Vibram post.

  26. Love my running shoes, I'll go to a sports store over a fashion shoe shop any day.x

  27. I recently got new runners, ohh definitely like a cloud, I even feel more motivated to do housework when I am wearing them. So weird, like if I have them on I have to make use of them, so they definitely motivate me. They are also hot pink! yeeew!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hahahaha, I like reason #5. :-P

  29. Nope. I still don't get it.
    Running shoes just don't excite me I'm afraid.
    I have friends and family members who LOVE getting new sneakers in crazy colours and patterns. But not me.
    My shoe budget is firmly attached to dress shoes.
    However, if you gave me a new pen and a new note book I could relate to number 6. I get totally energised and motivated to write and plan and ponder and to turn to-dos into ta-dahs.
    Yep .. I'm off to get a new pen and note book ..
    Cheers!

  30. I so read that in the voice of 'Fat Bastard'!
    And I love the idea that the kids can't catch me when I run away. Should try running away more often! :)

  31. I wear my joggers a lot! I love the support they give my feet and I don't get sore legs like I do from regular shoes

    ReplyDelete
  32. Like it when my feet are comfy - just hate the smell of the socks after the work out

    ReplyDelete
  33. i just got new ones in the states - springy is the word - unfortunately i have yet to be motivated to resume my exercise regime beyond walking the new doggy LOL soon i swear!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have a pair of Michelle Bridges walking shoes that do the job for me but I do need a new pair of tennis shoes so I can get back into it again. Unfortunately tennis shoes don't traditionally come in so many funky shades...hoping I can find something fun though!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I might get some just for point number #5.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You had me at Jennifer Garner :)

    When I'm feeling like I need motivation I'll chuck on Alias and watch it whilst on the tready. When I'm running I imagine myself tall and strong like Sydney.

    Thanks so much for linking up for Fitness Friday, I really appreciate it x
