1. Comes when I call, instead of responding with "soon" or "in a minute"
2. Eats when I give her food. She is grateful and excited for that one meal. The other two seem to always be hungry and need about 10 small meals a day
3. Can be entertained with a run instead of expensive outings
4. Is happy to grab a nanna nap on the lounge in the middle of the day
5. Doesn't leave toys, artsy crafty sh&^ around the house
6. Doesn't need me to close the cupboard, switch on a night light, check for monsters before she can go to sleep
7. Keeps baddies away with her tough presence and deep warning bark
8. Doesn't need me to spend 100 hours wrapping and naming $300 worth of school supplies
But on the other hand, Lola doesn't write me poems like this:
Dear Mummy,
You sure are funny all you taste like is honey
I can put you in my tummy
You sure are not a dummy
We love you
You do not smell like poo
If you did, you would be doing a number two
How beautiful are you!
or writes this
Never gets angry
Interesting to look at
Confuses me
Everyday you hug me
Really well dressed
Always there for me
Clever at stuff
Helps me a lot
Every day you look good
Loves me a lot
They crack me up. How are your school holidays going?
haha! Interesting to look at, confuses me. These are great! I love how their minds work.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is a cutie patotie.
And also... you have just reminded me that soon I will have to cover school books again!
It's such a huge job but I get better and faster each year x
DeleteWell, how comforting to know you don't smell like poo! Our holidays are going ok - but it's only been a few days. Many, many weeks of craft still to come :)
ReplyDeleteI was quiet relieved :)
DeleteGeez, you had me convinced dogs were better than kids, until the poems. Awwww. It's a good thing you don't smell like poo.
ReplyDeleteHaha, good :) I'm thrilled I don't smell like poo.
DeleteYou're both interesting to look at and you do not smell like poo. Win-win!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
I didn't even ask what makes me interesting to look at, I might not want to know the answer.
DeleteIf only I could just feed the kids once a day! How easy would that be?!?!? I often liken my son to a terrier. Im sure if we got a dog it would make just as much mess as the kids!
ReplyDeleteI would make life so much easier. I wish I could only feed my husband once too x
DeleteHe he! Love it. I can imagine school holidays bring both joy and terror - they don't start til next week here. Zeb starts 3 year old kindy next year, so I will get my first exposure :)
ReplyDeleteAt first it was mainly terror but now it brings more joy with a twist of terror :)
DeleteOh Rachel! How funny but how beautiful are these poems! "You sure are funny all you taste like is honey." How cute!
ReplyDeleteReally cute! They know how to get to me :)
DeleteHere I was, thinking of trading Ashleigh in for a dog, and you pull the old switcheroo. Gorgeous poems. Definitely worth keeping for the biographies when they're rich and famous!
ReplyDeleteOr embarrass them at their 21st
Deletejust adore those poems!
ReplyDeleteno holidays yet on my end
doom day is next wednesday
i am no where near ready!
xx
I'm never ready. They come around so quickly x
DeleteOh they are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThe kids proabably don't try and chew your hand while you're typing either, I'm guessing :)
Haha, no they don't :)
Deletemaaaaw those poems are the most awesome things... so are dogs too though... hmmm xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks xx
DeleteI need a 'child' like this I think.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty great - when they aren't bickering or whinging.
DeleteOh, my pussy cats are so little bother compared to the teens and twins, this is a funny post but it's all true too. Have had a day of activity and bickering... but NO POEMS! Short-changed!
ReplyDeleteWhat NO POEMS!!! What is going on in your house??
DeleteAt least they answer you when you call. Mine ignore me. Day 2, and I'm already over it!
ReplyDelete'Interesting to look at'! Thanks for the laugh!
xx
Send them over here. I'll give them some poem writing lessons and have long talks about "How mummies need love too" xx
DeleteI want a Lola!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe just got a kitten, Misty. Half siamese, half tabby, FULLY cute! That is helping to keep Miss 16 out of mischief these school holidays LOL ...
Misty sounds gorgeous. I am often tempted to get a kitten but have resisted.
DeleteHey, your kids have raw talent! And your dog is cute! Surely that's a win/win? ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree xx
DeleteI have seen some of your Instagram photo's lately with your dog. love them! I would be lost without my furry sidekick.
ReplyDeleteA little partner in crime. They are great xx
DeleteOooh that's gorgeous your girls wrote those poems for you! However, knowing what I know about motherhood now, if I had my time over I'd stick to fur babies too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, it makes life quieter and neater :)
DeleteI love those poems - they are delightful! But I do concur that animal children can be so much easier to manage than human ones - if only dogs could write delightful poetry too...!
ReplyDeleteMaybe with the right training?
DeleteAbsolutely pmsl at that first poem. Simply gorgeous :-)
ReplyDeletexx
LOL, thank you :)
DeleteLola is a cutie :-) I remember when my kids were little, it was the fighting that nearly drove me mad. But I loved the break from the routine of making lunches, school runs etc etc. Gorgeous poems they have written for you :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's great not having to rush out of the house and you can wear PJ's until 10am. xx
DeleteToo cute! The Big Sister gave me some high praise this week too - "Mummy, you're the bestest mummy I've ever had!"
ReplyDeleteThat is very sweet. You have to love them xx
