Botox or Notox Update - 4 1/2 months later

I think most readers know that I had botox for my birthday in February. Here are the before photos and here are the 2 weeks after photos. It was my first taste and I only got it on the frown lines between my brows.  Many, many people had lots of questions, particularly friends and family. It seems that people are very curious about botox. I don't blame them, the results were fantastic and I was completely thrilled.
Now, 4 1/2 months on...

I am almost back to my grumpy old frowny face again. My charming 6 year old has even commented that I need more botox. Thanks kid, it's really easy for a 6 year old to criticise. I was aware that botox would only last for 3 - 6 months. For some reason, I was still hoping that it would be more like 8 (or even 12 months).

To answer a few of your questions...

Was it worth $300? Yes, I received it as a birthday gift but if I hadn't I would have found a way to do it anyway.

Would I do it every 4 months? If I had the money yes. I would even be happy with only twice a year.

Would I do it elsewhere on my face? No, I am still only concerned about my angry lines. All my happy lines can stay and they can even invite friends to join them. I want to look like I have lived a happy life not locked in the Barbie Dream house staring blankly at Ken.

Do I want other work now? No. I am far from perfect but happy to look like me (for now).

  1. Great post, Rachel. I have been wondering about it, and think I would get it on my frown line, too. Always great to hear others' experiences. x

  2. Hmmm, don't think I would ver get it done but that's just me. How did it feel? Did you feel like that area was frozen/numb? Just curious, hope you don't mind the questions.

    1. HI Cathy, I don't mind questions at all. It took a few days for it to kick in. It felt a little strange but not numb. It was a good sort of strange. LOL, not a very good explanation.

  3. I'm like you Rachel - deep frowny crease between brows, which is where I'd get it done. I like my other wrinkles!

  5. I love your honesty Rachel. I always said to my husband I'm pumping up my crow's feet once I stop breastfeeding but the cost puts me off somewhat. The amount you can spend on ineffective creams though!

    1. Yup! I've spent so much money on anti wrinkle cream. No idea if they work or not as I can never remember to actually put them on. I definitely have deeper frown lines since having kids. Sleep deprivation and great skin do not go hand in hand!

    1. Haha, I want something that lasts but then I also don't want something permanent either - incase it looks unnatural. Let me know if you work out what we are looking for :)

    1. I know, $300 is a lot for only 4-6 months. If it lasted a year I wouldn't hesitate. Rx

  9. Good on you Rachel, I have had it done four times and each time it lasted at least 12 months. I haven't had it done for more than two years and the frown lines are not as prominent as they used to be, so getting it done more than once does retrain your facial muscles. I'm not getting it done again for a while because i got a bit tired of not beiong able to look shocked.

  10. We have the same philosophy of sorts. I love all my laugh and smile lines. It's the frown lines between my brows that I hate the most.

    1. Yes! The happy ones make you approachable and interesting, the frown ones just scare people off. Rachel x

  11. Thanks for the post Rachel! I love Botox (in small doses). I actually see the cost as a benefit of sorts because it keeps me from over doing it. Did you know Botox can also build up in one area over time? So if you go every 4 months, you may need much less than you originally did.

    1. Thanks Becca, I am starting to obsess on the lines again. The costs does stop me from noticing everything else and just focus on the big ones. Thanks for reading and commenting. Rx
