Your shoes and 7 things they say about you

Your shoes are saying things about you whether you like it or not.

I recently read a little piece in the Sunday Mail about what "What your shoes say about you"

"...Like your shoes to look new and well-kept? You're more likely to be clingy in your relationships, while fans of ankle boots tend to be more aggressive say researches. A study of college students from the US found that strangers could accurately assess a personal's level of 'attachment anxiety' from the shoe, as well as their age and income..."
I am going to take this one step further (notice the pun) and I have no research to back up anything I say.

What your shoes are saying about you:

1. If they are wearing Running shoes, they are going to run away. Don't try to hold them back, let them go and if they come back they are yours;
2. If they are wearing slippers or ugg boots outside the house. Take care, they may be sleep walking. If they aren't, then this is your turn to run;
3. She will only wear flats shoes. Check she isn't married to a short Scientologist;
4. Only movie stars wear heels 2 sizes too large. If it looks ridiculous on them, it's going to look even worse on you;
5. Some people walk with their heels over the edges of their thongs? I usually see them in food courts and they always have dirty, cracked heels. Who is a fault, the thong or the wearer?;
6. The Sunday Mail thinks ankle boot wearers are aggressive. They should see me in my Doc Martins; and
7. If they are barefoot, walking out of Starbucks, braless and on high beam. Check it might be Britney Spears.

Look at your shoes right now, what are they saying about you?

  1. Love it Rachel! I pretty much live in my trainers these days - but the only running I've done lately is chasing after G in the park. I used to love my killer heels but I honestly don't think I could walk in them anymore! x

    1. I go from runner to killer heels most days. I still love my heels. Lucky my girls are 6 & 8 now, so I don't need to chase them anymore :) Rx

    New follower in me :)

    ps. you may want to add - A woman who has 2 completely different shoes on her feet is a mother who is clearly sleep deprived and fighting with a 2 year old! (Note: this may or may not have happened to me this week!)

    1. Hahaha, that is so funny. Odd socks I have heard about - not the odd shoes. One time I nearly drove off in my slippers because I thought I had already changed into my runners. Lucky I realised. Rachel x

  3. Oh I have done odd shoes on more than one occasion or rather odd thongs any way, the joys of living in the tropics.

  5. Great post. I may have gone to the footy on one occasion with uggs. In my defence, it was 2 degrees, the uggs were black and I had a horrendous cold. *sorry*

    1. I think it's actually part of the spectators uniform to wear uggs at the football, so that's ok. Rx

  6. I wear black leather enclosed shoes the majority of the time - it says "I work in an area where black leather enclosed shoes are mandatory". I wear elastic sided boots around the farm, I think it says "I live on a farm and don't want sheep poo and mud on my black leather shoes" lol

  7. I knew there was a reson for your many ankle boots! I am currently wearing slippers (inside the house, thank you) and apparently they say I have parmesan cheese feet. Nice.

  8. Bahaha, 'Check she isn't married to a short scientologist', Love it!!!
    I hate seeing the celebrities with the heels 2 sizes to big, we know why they do it, but we can see the inch of empty shoe past their heel, it looks ridiculous!

  9. i have a pair of AWESOME ankle boots - maroon with same colour velvet down the side.. everyone comments on how cool they are (bought in UK).. but they are so scratch up I feel embarrassed to wear them... can't find the right colour to polish them up...

    My Ranty Boots are the similar type but knee highs :)

    just bought 2 new boots - in TEAL - ready to make a statement next time I go out!

    1. Maybe you can get a professional to fix them up? I would love a pair of Teal boots, they would look fantastic. Rx

  12. I had to laugh at #2 and #3.
    #2 because I wore my uggies outside yesterday as I was busily chasing the boys rather than sleepwalking.
    And #3 because I just read that TomKat's divorce is finally settled...already! Oh, and because I wear flats a LOT but am definitely not with a short Scientologist ;)

    1. I think chasing the boys is quite an acceptable reason :) Rachel x

  13. Oh i love this!! Right now i'm in ugg boots indoors, freezing in Canberra. They are purple Peter Alexander, & my 4 children match me (PA powder blue, pink, pale pink & navy.) School holidays, don't judge us!!
    Too cute about the post on aliases for the family as i don't name my children or husband either, can't even show my husband's face, so i should do a recap, as i tend to number my daughters, ick!!
    GIggles about scientologists, short ones too, my husband is 7" taller than me, i can wear stilettos and still tuck under his arm, love Posie

    1. I am still in slippers too. It's 3pm on a Tuesday and school holidays. I haven't left the house, so it's all good. 7 inches is a good difference. My husband is only about 2cm taller than me but I hasn't ever stopped me from wearing heels.

  14. PS Winter boots - just spent a small fortune on getting them resoled, so no slipping over on those pristine leather soles. Worth the investment as i find i keep boots for a decade (my soldier husband polishes them, so if you see me in buffed shoes, it's him!!) Love Posie

  17. Yes well, I could think of a few other explainations for some of those, but I wont because that may be pigeon holeing someone!! My friend was just saying how in her parts they wear slippers to get the groceries...what is with that???x

  20. Oh I love it!
    And as an aside, it really annoys me when thongs are too short. I like bit of room at the end of my thongs!

    1. Short thongs are terrible!! They should be able to tell if a thong fits or not. Rx

  21. I'm a flats wearer too, and my husband is 6'4". And to my knowledge, he is no Scientologist. I certainly didn't give birth in silence anyway. I'd love to wear more heels - just hopeless in walking in them.

    1. Haha, my births weren't silent either. My poor children are probably scarred for life due to it :) Rachel x

  22. From this list, I could be divorcing a famous scientologist, and I am often bare foot - only in public on rare occasions. I am such a failure at being a chick :)

  25. Love it! Last week at the shops my 3 year old asked "why are you wearing those shoes?" I looked down, I had forgotten to change out of my uggs....
    BTW - why do celebs wear heels two sizes too big? I've often seen it in pics but assumed they were handed a pair in the wrong size..

    1. Haha, even your 3yo picked up that it wasn't right.

      I think they wear them too big because they are provided sample sizes and I have also heard that it's so they don't get blisters when breaking in new shoes. I don't know how they can walk in them. Rx

  26. Love it when you get your funny on!

    I think they wear shoes too big because they wear sample shoes. They must be bigger than the sample size clothes they also wear!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree, it's because of the sample sizes. They must assume all stars are size 0 with massive feet :)

  27. I turned up at Kindy a couple of weeks ago in my zebra striped slippers. i was mortified so I made a big hoo ha about it so people would hopefully laugh with me and not at me, I did end up taking them off and running into the sevo to get milk bare foot. Kindy is one thing, a public service station is another! x

  29. Love your sense of humour! I've black shoes that look a little like your red ones. Bought them in Santa Monica, USA. I still have shoes gifted to me in NYC, comfy ones I bought in Maastricht, The Netherlands that were made in Portugal after I'd had enough of my hard soled low platform heels on those cobblestone pathways. I guess you could say shoes carry sentimental memories for me, or else they're practical ie: flats. You can indeed tell a lot about a person by their shoes!

    1. My shoes have sentimental memories too. I love my red Mary Jane heels. I just took then off to be resoled this week to give them more life. I'm always sad to send them off to their next life. Rx
