The day I almost found a grey hair!!

I am pretty lucky. I'll be 40 years old in February and I am quite proud of the fact I don't have any grey hairs or any fillings in my teeth. In fact, I might even be a little cocky about it.

Then my dear hairdresser pointed out that I did in fact have some. I doubted her and when I got home I went immediately to the mirror and started digging around. At first I thought it was a reflection of light on my shiny, shiny hair. Then I looked harder and I realised something was there. On closer inspection I came to the conclusion that it's probably a rare albino hair, I noticed a few other rare albino hairs too.

I am glad I got to the bottom of it, because when I thought it was grey. It really knocked my confidence and made me doubt myself. I don't know why but it did.

I still don't have any fillings. I will stay quietly cocky about this too.

Have you had any grey hairs yet? How did you feel?

  1. At 37 the front half of my head is a gorgeous shade of silver blonde....;-) Not grey not blonde....silvery blonde......and no matter how many I pull/pluck (much to my hairdressers dismay) I think 2 grow in support any way. I have come to accept they make my hair look well highlighted.

    1. Silver blonde sounds very glamorous. People pay good money to have well highlighted silver blonde hair. Rachel x

  3. I had a friend who had grey hairs in high school. She claimed they proved she was wise...

    1. I agree with her, she was obviously very wise at a young age. Rx

  4. I don't have greys ... well up top anyway ;) and I'm with you on the no fillings! Mum fed us fluoride tablets as kids - think that helped.

    1. Hahaha ;) We had fluoride water. I think that had a lot to do with it. Before the water had fluoride up here, I would give my girls tablets too.

  5. I am 26 and have partially grey hair! When I let my grow out, its a mix of brown and a dark silvery colour. That's one of the reasons why I dye my hair :P

  6. I have lots, it reminds me I have Irish ancestry. And that I'm lucky my hair isn't white.

  7. The advantage of being blondeish is that I can't see greys.... THANK GOD. My mum started going grey in her 20s... though my dad wasn't even really grey until his 70s. Hopefully I have more of his genes!

Oh, and plus I dye my hair all of the time so god only knows what colour it is naturally!

    1. Blonde is great for hiding grey. Dark brown is not so good :)

  9. I've had one grey hair. Just one. But the horror of where I found it has not yet left me. It was in MY EYEBROW and it was long and coarse and I felt like John Howard, only less of a right wing banker.

I plucked that sucker out and then realised that after all my painstaking effort in growing my eyebrows out, I must have forgotten the golden rule. No plucking from the middle of your eyebrow. Still, I think I'd rather fill in a gap than tend to that GREY HAIR!

    1. I would rather fill it in too. It could be worse than the eyebrow. I have heard of a less obvious place :) Rachel x

  11. I think I was late twenties when I noticed one or two hairs, and lucky for me I still only have one or two. I'm sure my time will come. I don't mind so much - that's what hair dye is for! Though I do think some women wear grey so beautifully.
