Silver Linings Playbook giveaway worth $200

I wasn't sure about this movie. I must be the only woman on the planet that doesn't see the appeal of Bradley Cooper. He always looks greasy and sleazy. Like an upper class, uni student with a weird sex kink. I've enjoyed all the movies I have seen him in but I just didn't think he was that special.

This movie turned it around. I'm sure he still has some weird kinks but think he can act his arse off. It took me about 40mins to start enjoying this movie and then I loved it. I loved every subtle, magical moment of it.

Robert DeNiro is perfectly cast as the OCD, booky dad. Jackie Weaver was probably my favourite character. She is so loyal and adorable plus the camera loves her. I can see why Jennifer Lawrence received all the accolades she did. She was perfect. They were all perfect.

For those that don't know, this movie is about a man's life after a long stint in a mental institution. He obsesses on how to win back his cheating wife and in the meantime he befriends a younger lady who has plenty of her own issues.
This is a comedy. I wasn't sure for a while, but I did catch myself smiling.

This is definitely on my you-must-see-it list.

Now, who wants to see it? Thanks to Roadshow Entertainment I have 5 copies to giveaway.

  2. I absolutely loved this movie. I'm not a Bradley fan either but this, and The Place Beyond the Pines are two movies that had me ugly crying in the cinema. The attendants thought I was a total weirdo sitting there mopping up while they started to clean!

  3. I would love to win this! I've wanted to see it for ages, and don't see myself getting to the movies until... Christmas, maybe? Who knows?!

Thanks for hosting the giveaway, and good luck to everyone.

  4. Because I know where Redcliffe is? :-) And I admire anybody that is brave enough to mention that they don't like Bradley Cooper OUT LOUD. x

  5. I don't get the Bradley Cooper thing either - especially all those photos of him with the bad 70s perm. Apparently for a movie role ... that's what they all say. It makes him look like Justin Timberlake - and that's Not Good.

He looks like he needs a jolly good wash and has a face like a potato. A hairy, unshaven and unwashed potato.

I do however love Jennifer Lawrence. She's kickarse in The Hunger Games, and although I found Winter's Bone dull and fairly pointless, I can see why she received accolades and acclaim. One of those movies that I wish I'd read the book instead to appreciate the writing.

  6. I agree with you about Bradley Cooper. I know exactly what you mean but couldn't put it to words until you did. Would love to change my mind by winning this DVD. I love Jennifer Lawrence and Jackie Weaver too. Never got to see this movie in the theatre because I was having a baby. Winning it on DVD would be the "silver lining".

  7. I really like Bradley Cooper - but maybe that says more about me liking greasy sleazy men than his broader sex appeal, but that is a whole other story! I really want to see this movie - the only reason I didn't go at the movies is I was a little worried I would see far too many of my own traits in some of the characters. I think it best I watch it in the privacy of my own home!!

  8. I haven't been to the movies since I had my first bub (she's now 5 and in prep!) and have seen approximately a handful of movies on TV (with ads) in that time. That's excluding all the Disney princess movies of course, they don't count!

  9. Ooh I should add I would love to see this movie not just to check out Bradley Cooper, but also I love Jennifer Lawrence and she has just agreed to star in one of my fave books soon, so gotta check out her style!

  10. I'd love to win a copy cos I've heard such amazing things about it, plus Jennifer Lawrence just seems really likeable.

I kinda get the Bradley Cooper thing, but he seems / feels a bit short to me. (And as I am perfect I'm allowed to be fussy... and single at 45!!)

  15. I love Jennifer Lawrence. First film I watched her in was in Winters Bone and instantly fell in love with her. She was also so grateful and humble at the Oscars. Would love to own her Oscar winning film.

  16. It’s the one critically acclaimed film of 2013 that I failed to see in cinemas. It was an unjustified oversight and my status as a self-proclaimed film critic is in dire straits!

  17. Jennifer Lawrence is great to watch on the big screen. She is becoming a very astute actress who is passionate about her craft.

  18. I haven't been able to warm to Jennifer Lawrence as an actress in previous films. I did let out a bit of a giggle when she fell up the steps at the Oscars though! Poor girl! At least she won, I think she kept her dignity! I'd be interested to see this film, I'd be curious to see if my opinion of her will change, and if she lived up to her award winning role.
