I must resist....

When the beautician warns against using something too often due to its power I can't help but challenge that theory. When they say once a week, I do 3 times. When they say gently rub for 2 minutes, I'll scrub hard for 10. I know more is not better but I have no power to resist.
Over the years I have scrubbed my face off, burnt it, broken out but still I can't resist.

This week I received a new cream and they warned me against it's super powers. I-MUST-RESIST!!

Is this just me? Can you resist?

On Tuesdays I link up with Diary of a SAHM

  1. Is Nicole Kidman a strictly soap and water girl? Methinks no. That said, you're already gorgeous so you don't need it. But I know where you're coming from... the lure of the miracle cream is too good to resist! xo

  2. If you can't feel the tingle, then it's not working yet. I'm the same, mud mask says leave for 5 minutes - wait a sec, it's not all dry and crusty yet, I have to wait until I look like a golem before washing it off.
I figure beauty aid directions are like serving sizes, merely a suggestion.

    1. I agree, just a suggestion. The better the burn the better it's working. Rx

  3. I use to leave my miracle cream/conditioner/treatment on for longer than required until someone told me it can make it worse and not better. Now, I count the minutes it's on my head. It might now be getting better results but it's more tedious than ever.

  4. Oh, I am a good girl. I always follow instructions when it comes to beauty products as I've seriously stuffed my skin and hair before by not doing so! Such a suck! ;)

Can't wait to meet you on Saturday x

  5. I can't even remember the last time I tried a miracle cream. I do know that when it comes to putting henna through my hair I always leave that much longer than suggested, just to be sure

  6. I'm terrible with beauty products. I buy them, intending to use them regularly, then forget after the second or third day. I've just stopped buying them! Chrissie xx

  8. I have only just started religiously putting face and eye cream on at night again, now I feel like I don't have to collapse straight into bed after getting the (no longer) baby to bed.

So I haven't even put a mask on in years.

But when I used to dye my own hair I used to leave it in longer.. and that is probably the worse thing to leave longer! But I was lucky and never came out with green or no hair.

Is that a mud mask? It actually looks like liquid licorice! Mmmm.

    1. It's a black mask. I wish it was licorice. Yummo, how good would that smell (and taste). Rachel x

  9. I'm not fussy with face cream, but I am a stickler for hair dyes being done on time (no one wants hair falling off in clumps), or hair removal cream, particularly in 'sensitive' areas ;)

    1. Yes - I will never break the hair removal cream rules. Not even I am that much of a rick taker. Rachel x

    2. Ah, see thats the one I always break. Double the time means double the colour, right????? Although I have never done my own highlights, that would be a definite rule follow :)

  10. Actually I'm the opp frm Jess. I'm quite particular with my skin care routines because I have very sensitive skin, but I'd leave the hair dye on longer if I DIY, because of my dark hair colour heehee. Convinced I need extra time for extra strength!

  11. If the cream will work in 2 minutes, it will work a little bit more in 4 minutes, right? But hair dye, I time to the second. I don't want my hair turning green or falling out.

  12. I don't use much creams or scrubs. But when I do i have no concept of time and how long I have been using it for. So I might go less or might go more and I don't really care. Things like mouth wash I use for longer though.

  18. I'm exactly the same! I always think: my skin is worse than they're talking about or my greys are worse than those they've tested on - I'd better leave it for an extra 10 minutes. Bad move in my experience, but it doesn't stop me doing the same thing next time lol!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Haha, I'm the same way! Hair color for only 25 minutes? I leave it on for 40.mconditioners for only 3 minutes? I leave it on for 15. Gotta make sure they WORK, right?!

  20. I received a very generous gift voucher for my 40th birthday for Jo Malone. It largely went on a very expensive body cream. I can't tell you how amazingly divine this cream was. I went from feeling obscene for spending so much money on a body cream when sorbolene would do the trick to OH MY GOD I AM TRANSFORMED. I became so addicted to it, I couldn't save it for special occasions as I'd promised myself. The sales assistant told me it would last a year, but it was gone within 3 months. Sob.
