What I Wore: "End of the Rainbow" date night

Last night, we watched End of the Rainbow at the Playhouse in QPAC. I was really looking forward to this musical and had been practising the songs all day. I'm fairly certain I sound exactly like Judy Garland.

Christen O'Leary was amazing as Judy Garland. I am not sure how she could play this character over and over. Her voice was huge but it is such an emotional and troubled role. I am usually like stone but I did have tears filling my eyes when she sang Somewhere over the Rainbow at the end. Anthony Standish was excellent as Mickey Deans, Judy's last husband. The audience tutting as he passed tablets to Judy. Finally, Hayden Spencer was Anthony, the handsome, gay, best friend. Why-oh-why didn't she pick him. Oh, that's right, he is gay.
What I wore: A Desigual dress sent to me from an overseas aunt, Voodoo Maze stockings and ancient, black Zu booties. Ruby nails and lipstick in honour of the Ruby slippers.

Thank you QPAC for the tickets and an awesome night.

I love this photo taken by my 7yo. She staged, arranged and snaped. Unfiltered.

What I wore: My 40th birthday party

Last night I celebrated 40 with a bang. Burnt Orange served endless plates of delicious Tapas and we were bursting at the seams. There was lots of loud laughing coming from all ends of the room and too much champagne poured.

I completely loved my Kitten D'Amour dress. It was so fun and playful. I teamed it with a strutting pair of Pinkinc heels. I found these at Myer reduced from $189 to $28. The price made me love them even more.
Thanks to the lovely Mrs BC's House of Chaos for the centre top photo.

The 20s, 30s and 40s

As you probably already know, my 40th birthday is only days away. It has got me thinking about the last few decades.

The 20s - The Selfish Decade
The twenties were all about me. I broke off an engagement with my teen sweetheart. I met my love, I worked long, long hours for law firms that didn't give a rats. I wine and dined clients, lost nights in nightclubs with friends and ate too many rich meals in restaurants.

My heart was broken when my father died suddenly at 49 years old. This was my first taste of death and the biggest shock of my life.
I got engaged and married.
The 30s - The Mummy years
I had a miscarriage shortly after I turned 30yo. It was only then that I realised I wanted children. I had my first later that year and my second when I was 32yo.

First there was Stompy...
..then there was Mimi.
I discovered that I enjoyed running and I wasn't complete crap at it. I competed in fun runs and even won a medal.
We bought and sold a few houses. This was our first house and it was barely bigger than a shed. We were so proud of it.
My girls grew up a little, started school and found their own personalities.
 We holidayed and partied
 With my gorgeous niece on Coronet Peak in New Zealand

(Pretending to be JLo and Marc Anthony but not quite pulling it off)
And spent a lot of time with family.
I can't begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to the next decade, because they seem to keep getting better.

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning usually starts with my husband walking around the house singing and attempting to motivate everyone to get up, get dressed and get to bootcamp. Don't get me wrong, I love bootcamp, I love my husband's happy songs but I also like to wake up slowly and drink two cups of coffee.

6.30am One cup of coffee later, we were down the beach with the Dimitri from Trainers by the Bay to kick each others arse. Bootcamp brings out my inner tomboy and competitiveness. I would hate me. Dimitri was kind enough to pose for some photos.
What I love about bootcamp is that it combines my three loves. Family, nature and exercise. If only there were a way to include food and wine then it would be perfect.
8.30am Showered, dressed and sitting in Church. I decided to pack away the tomboy and be girly. I broke out my pretty, Italian brushed gold necklace and earrings. My husband picked these up in Germany. I love the delicateness of them.
Like teenagers, we both giggled when we saw the word Jesus because it reminded us of this photo we saw earlier in the week.

Things I am loving. Vlog #1

I also considered naming this 2:47 seconds you will never get back.

As you know, sometimes I just do things for fun. This is one of these times. I have attempted my first vlog (video blog).  I am talking about things I am loving at the moment. I hope to learn and improve and be able to vlog about things I am loving regularly.

I hope you enjoyed my first vlogging attempt.

10 Reasons I am wearing Glasses

So I picked up some glasses this week, purple Burberry ones that looked really cute on the rack.

Now I would like to give you 10 reasons why I might have them:

1. I have been spending a lot of time on the computer lately (it's all for you);
2. They are using smaller fonts in magazines (jerks);
3. Dusk is starting earlier at the moment;
4. I just want to look after my eyes;
5. People weren't taking me seriously (I can't imagine why);
6. I wanted to match my husband (he really is a nerd)
7. I didn't think I had enough variety in accessories and I needed to branch out;
8. Because they were cute on the rack and had 50% off;
9. I secretly find the boys from The Big Bang Theory really hot - particularly Raish
10. They make my eyes look bigger (when you are really close and using a magnifying glass).

So be honest. What do you think, naughty librarian or just some dork?
