The Anti-resolution

I'm not big on New Year resolutions. I don't really see the point. I tried last year but it didn't really take.

So this year, I'm doing an anti list. This is a list of things I haven't done, and still won't do...
  1. Parachuting. I am 100% certain my heart will stop mid-jump. I'm not prepared to die just yet;
  2. Sing in public. Even after a few months of singing lessons I haven't improved at all. In fact, it made me more aware of how bad I really am. I wish I stayed happily oblivious to my lack of talent;
  3. Go alcohol free. I will cut back, save it for the weekends and focus my attention on Vodka;
  4. Run a full marathon. It will happen, but not this year. I'll stick around the 1/2 marathon mark for now;
  5. Quilting. I know is quite the art form but it's not for me. I do not have the patience to cut out 2000 fabric shapes, pin and sew them all together into a material mosaic that I would never display;
  6. Wear Birkenstocks;
  7. Or shorts;
  8. Fold my clothes before putting them away. I'm definitely a sort-n-shove-in-the-right-drawer kinda girl. Life is too short to fold;
  9. Iron. I have made it through 2012 without ever picking up an iron. I won't let 2013 break me; and
  10. Swim in dark, still water. I don't think there is anything more terrifying.
What's on your anti-resolution list?

  1. Wow, I can tick off that list also! Except for the shorts - I love shorts. Instead I would put scrapbooking. I really hate craft!

  2. Rachel you don't know what you are missing! Birkis are the BOMB DIGGITY! Comfy AND stylish and don't make you look at all like a German pensioner on a walking tour. Not one little bit.

  3. No karaoke for you then, Rach? I can't sing to save my life but love to make a tit of myself in public :-) xx

  4. I've only just discovered where the ironing board is after two years of being in this house. Shorts and birkenstocks are the yummy mummy uniform around these here parts. Just add high end sunglasses.

  5. Love the idea of an anti-list. Much more fulfilling than the opposite!

  6. Love it!

    Although I do have to say I do enjoy ironing ~ it is my down time and I strangely find it relaxing. There is something nice and starting with a full basket and ending with a full closet.

  7. I second that list and I'd also add bungee jumping or any thrill seeking activity.

  8. Oh Rachel, I spent the first 30 years of my life being able to avoid ironing. But, since I'm married, I iron my hubby's shirts. I hate ironing...

  9. Anti-Resolutions rock! I'm not making any huge resolutions that will leave me disappointed if I don't achieve them this year. Instead, I'm just going to try to be kinder to myself, live the 80/20 philosophy (eat well and exercise 80% of the time and indulge a little 20% of the time) and just enjoy what I have, rather than pining for what I don't. x

  10. Love the idea of anti-resolutions. Mine would also include zumba, aerobics or anything that involves trying to be co-ordinated in public x

  11. This makes me smile. I don´t make any huge resolution but I try to focus on the new year and I set some intentions and I choose a word for the year. Even so, I like the idea of anti-resolutions.

    I am new to your blog and it´s fantastic. I will follow you
