Girl on Raw

I have been following Girl on Raw for a while now and find her so inspiring. Robyn used to live in Redcliffe but now resides with her family in Saudi Arabia. Robyn is an international flight attendant and a qualified Raw chef.
If she wasn't impressive enough, she has now found time to write an ebook titled 'Smoothies and Juices for Newbies'. I was so excited when I saw this. My husband has been known to go through the odd diet and he recently brought home a shiny, new, industrial strength juicer. He had been whipping up the oddest combinations which he would then attempt to balance as he chased me through the house to taste test. I still have fennel flashbacks.

Now, I am getting on the same bandwagon but I have some tried, tested and delicious combos to drink. I am a huge fan of the Ginger Top and the Honey Bee. These are both so simple and yummy. I also think I will be drinking the Detox Juice quite a lot after the Christmas season.

This book has much more than just recipes. Robyn also provides a great guide to help and inform you about raw, organic diet and health. It's full of great tips and excellent advice. You don't have to go completely raw to enjoy this, you can just add elements to your existing diet.

Spring Cleaning and a giveaway!

I hate cleaning but I love cleaning products. My house is always usually glistening and sparkling with scented chemicals wafting through the air. Normally, I wouldn't be interested in writing or promoting cleaning products because there is nothing glamourous about it and I like to give a false impression of a stylish, lady of leisure. But, when I was told about this Brisbane based company, producing quality and environmentally responsible cleaning products, I couldn't refuse.
I was already aware of Orange Power due to their must-have Sticky Spot and Goo Dissolver. This has been a constant in my life since children. Every parent should own this. Orange power is 100% Australian owned, the products are palm oil free and they are endorsed by environmental group Planet Ark. The packaging uses 95% recycled cardboard and is easily recycled.

W.E review and DVD giveaway

When I was offered the opportunity to review and host a giveaway for Roadshow on the movie W.E. I wasn't really sure. I knew it was directed by Madonna and this automatic placed it in my "eerrr, I don't know if I want to see it" pile.

I ended up watching it and was completely surprised. I would never had guessed that Madonna would be capable of the gorgeous, simplicity of this movie. Abbie Cornish is mesmerising on screen. I loved her never ending supply of simple, classic black and white outfits. In fact, I may or may not have worn black and white and wandered dreamily through museums for a few days after watching this movie.

This also started off my new obsession with wanting to know everything about Wallis Simpson, King Edwards and their love affair. Ask me anything :)

  1. Leave a comment either here or on facebook telling me why you would like to win a copy of this DVD. The five most interesting comments will win.
  2. Enter prior to 6am on 18 September 2012.

Proskins with a GIVEAWAY valued at $285!!!

I love leggings and wear a pair nearly every day I wear them under skirts or dresses and then sporty pairs to the gym or running. This week I was thrilled to receive a pair of Proskins anti-cellulite leggings. Proskins are the experts in Compression wear and these are sports leggings.

What makes these leggings so special is that they are made from a revolutionary yarn that contain unbuilt caffeine, aloe vera, vitamin E, retinol and ceramics. They work to reduce cellulite and slim your legs while you wear them. They had me at 'anti-cellulite'. While I am not admitting to cellulite, I will say that I am tempted to wear these day in, day out and to sleep in them.

These are so comfortable and I love that they come up to the waist. No low riders, hipsters or muffin makers for me. You can wear these as gym pants, running leggings, as sleep wear or under your normal everyday clothing.

At the moment, I can not vouch for their cellulite fighting abilities, but I can tell you they are extremely comfortable.

Update: This competition has now closed the and winner has been notified by email.

Proskins has offer a prize to one lucky winner, a pair of Proskins Capri Leggings RRP $135 and a Proskins Top RRP $150. I am quite jealous about the top. Their products are sized between 6 - 20. I love that they are catering to a wide selection of sizes.  To enter you must:

Do you love bedding? Giveaway valued up to RRP$205

I go through stages of insomnia and have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I have to trick my body into sleeping and then I'll sleep like a cat. Very lightly.
Because of this, I am crazy about bedding. I love beautiful quilts, perfect height pillows (three of them), soft comfortable sheets etc etc. If I am going to sit up all night looking at them I would prefer they look good. I am lucky enough to be married to a man with some great bedding connections and he is lucky enough to be married to me.

Landing in my hot little hands yesterday was a bottom sheet for my bed, thank you Wenatex Australia.  I was pretty happy, I know their products and know they are great quality. I immediately unwrapped the Bella Donna sheet because it was getting washed and put on my bed today. The sheets feel unlike any other sheets I have felt before and I have felt up a lot of sheets. They are made from Jersey combined with silk and aloe vera protein!! It's like a soft expensive T-shirt that hugs your mattress. It feels amazingly soft and shouldn't stretch out and get loose like cotton ones. I can't believe I am excited about a sheet!!

I am even more excited to be able give one lucky person the opportunity to receive a bottom sheet in a size of their choice (single, double, queen or king) and the colour of your choice (as long as it's white). All you need to do is;

1. 'Like' Wenatex Australia on Facebook, you can do that here;
2. 'Like' Redcliffe Style on Facebook, you can do that here; and
3. Comment below or on facebook on why you would like to win this great prize; and
4. Do this before 6am on 27th March.

I have not been paid to review this product, this is a product that I came across that I loved and really wanted to share with you.

Get your bling on!

I love jewellery and lucky my husband loves it too. I often look like a Gold Coast retiree or a rapper with my bling on, just called me Mz Red (Thanks Pene, I stole that from you). At the moment I am going through a more subtle stage. Just a few select pieces here and there. At first it was hard to break the habit, I felt nude. What I have notice is, people look younger without loads of jewellery. I wonder why that is?

Lucky in the peak of my search for subtly I came across a jewellery website called Pretty Harbor. Ingrid the jewellery designer is French and is creating feminine, handcrafted jewels.

This bracelet is from the Marie Antoinette collection and is called Frivolity RRP $40.
This necklace is called Black Fragment RRP $50.  This is great for dressing up a simple outfit. I love that it's soft, so I won't annoy little heads when they snuggle in for a cuddle.
Ingrid was kind enough to send these to me and one lucky person can pick which they would prefer, the necklace or the bracelet.

To register your interest, please like Pretty Harbor on facebook here, like Redcliffe Style on facebook here and comment below or on facebook.  Too easy!

Please check out Ingrid's lovely pieces at her website.  They are so lovely and well priced.

I love....

Ice cream and Sunglasses, and together they are even better.

A few weeks ago I noticed a promotion on facebook called the OPSM Sunshine Tour. They visit places in an ice cream van and give away ice creams and sunglasses. How cool (literally) is that!! They were asking on facebook where they should visit next. I mentioned (a few times) that they should visit Brisbane, Redcliffe. Well, Brisbane was the chosen city but council regulations didn't allow their promotion. It seems that the council has issues with ice creams. Any woo, OPSM was cool enough to contact me and offer me a pair of glasses anyway. I jumped at the opportunity but I was kinda disappointed they didn't offer me ice cream too. I was expecting maybe a cheap pair of daggy sunglasses and instead I receive a fantastic pair of D&G glasses.

Do yourself a favour and jump on their facebook page and to see where they'll be visiting next and hopefully score a great pair of glasses, this is such a generous and fun giveaway.

Fantastic Giveaway - TK's Lashes

I am excited.  I previously wrote about TK's Lashes for a guest post on The Best Beauty Blog (This is one of my favourite bloggers, check her out). TK's Lashes enjoyed the article and were kind enough to send me a set of the TK's Lashes Eyelash Extension kit for one lucky reader RRP $84.95.  To register your interest in winning this great product all you need to do is:

  1. "Like" TK's Lashes on facebook - you can do that here;
  2. "Like" Redcliffe Style on facebook - you can do that here;
  3. Comment about why you would like this product - either below or on facebook; and
  4. Make sure you do this prior to 6am on 21 February 2012.

This is a copy of what I wrote for The Best Beauty Blog.

"...I am a complete make-up minx. I can spend hours in make-up departments opening, smelling and trying on every tester. I love the scents, packaging and dreams associated with this department and I am always on the look out for something new and different. This week I hit gold while my 8yo daughter was having her hair cut at a local hair and beauty salon. My 6yo daughter and I slowly slunk over to the shiny, colourful make-up stand. Standing up right, taking centre stage of the stand was a small but powerful black box - TK's Lashes. The brochure beside this box made promises. Surely, it couldn't follow through with the promise of making lashes 300% longer. I cannot resist a challenge. I was going to test and scoff at this and I was going to use my innocent little 6 year old as my guinea pig to do it. Feeling like I was participating in an episode of Myth Busters, I opened the black box and inside were two tubes. First you use the larger gel tube to brush onto the lashes. Then you use the smaller tube to brush on the fibres, then set again with the gel brush.  Seriously, UNBELIEVABLE results. My daughter looked like the cutest little drag queen with her lovely, long lashes.
Now, I love mascara and I use it daily. For special occasions I use to get the individual lashes put on. Recently I discovered lash extensions and I love them, but can't afford to keep them permanently. The TK's Lashes are something else. They truly do make your lashes look ridiculously long, but still natural and you can wash them off. I think this is a must have in any make-up stash."

You can buy these online at www.tkslashes.com.nz. No mess, no fuss, no glue.

Keeping busy...and a Giveaway

It still raining here in Brisbane and we have been stuck inside for days. I can't tell you how excited my girls were when I showed them some gorgeous Goose Grease craft kits I received from Finlee & Me. I love that these kits include everything you need for an art activity. As well as the main craft item, they include the brushes, paint and the topcoat (and 2 hours of silence) all in a neat little carry bag. They are great to use now or to pack away for a rainy day or holidays.

My girls have been busy making wooden versions of our family. I am not sure why they are giggling so much while they are decorating the version of me. If I was a more arty mum, I can imagine it would be fun to cut up fabric, use sequins and little buttons and glue them on.

Next we are tackling the DYI Yo-yos. I think I am more excited than the girls. I think I will break out the sequins for this, it'll look more impressive when I do 'around-the-world' or 'walk-the-dog'.

Giveaway
To add to the excitment, Finley & Me has offered three lucky people the chance to win one DYI kit each. The three prizes are One DYI Family kit, one DYI Top kit and a DYI Yo Yo kit. It is so easy to enter, you need to like Finlee & Me and Redcliffe Style on facebook and comment either below or on facebook to register your interest. Make sure you do this before 6am on 6th February 2012. How easy is that??

We will announce the winners on Monday 6th February.

Please visit Finlee and Me, this is a wonderful site with so many fun and great products for children.
