Massage for your Soul - and a giveaway valued at $110!!

Yesterday I visited Art and Wellbeing in Scarborough for a Raindrop massage. I had no idea what to expect. My daughters thought they might strip me and send me out into the rain. I wasn't concerned. I looked it up and read about it but I was still unsure.

Alice is the masseuse/practitioner and has a gentle, relaxed, coolness about her.  She took me to a room in her home, I felt like I was in Byron Bay and smelt like oils combined with fresh air and the seaside. I felt like time didn't exist in this world and that's cool because for a moment, I didn't care about it either.

Alice is so passionate and knowledgeable about what she does and you can't help but feel the same. She thoroughly checks you out prior to the massage. She measures your height and tests for any reactions to oils, as well as many other things.

The first 30 minutes of my massage was a Vita flex technique massage on my feet. This is an ancient tibetan version of reflexology, using oils. I really hate my feet being touch, I have a scar across the bottom of my right foot and it's extremely sensitive. I agree to a light massage on that foot even though inside I was starting to panic at the thought of someone touching it. It was ok, in fact I caught myself falling asleep a few times. I only pulled myself out of slumber because I needed to know what you tell you and my tummy growled loudly a few times. So, big tick for the Vita flex foot massage.

The second half of my massage was concentrating on my back, shoulders and neck. Alice used 9 different therapeutic grade oils, these included Peppermint, thyme, basil, oregano and these were feathered in.
Yes, these are all the oils she used on me.
I really enjoyed my massage and I have never had anything like it. I did smell like an italian housewife afterwards, so if you have one, don't plan on going out somewhere special straight afterwards unless it is an italian restaurant or Italy.

Art and Wellbeing also have a on-line market Art Market store where they sell some lovely products. I love the cushion covers and the necklaces. You can also buy these products at the Redcliffe Markets. They will have a store set up there on Sundays from 13 May.

Now for the exciting news, Art and Wellbeing have offered a Raindrop massage usually $80 and pendant necklace $30 (this one in red) to one lucky person. They are located in Scarborough, so only enter if you can get there or know someone that can and allow at least 2 hours. To enter all you need to do is:

1. 'Like' Art and Wellbeing on Facebook. You can do that here;
2. 'Like' Redcliffe Style on Facebook. You can do that here;
3. Tell us what massage they specialise in and why you would like to have one. You can comment either below or on Facebook; and
4. Enter prior to 6am on 15 May 2012.

(If you don't know the answer you can find it here)

  6. You know I have only ever had one massage, and the masseuse spent the whole time talking about all the hookers she massaged, and all their awful stories. It was the most bizarre feeling afterwards, because my body felt so light and free, but inside I felt dirty and disgusted, and I've never had one since.
    One day....

    I would absolutely love love love to win this because I am a mum of 11 and I always come last- there is no way I would spend money on something like this for me when the kids need things. Oh, and I have never ever had a massage!! My husband has agreed to look after the kids while I head off for it if I am lucky enough to win. Fingers crossed! :)

  15. Alice specialises in the Ancient Egyptian and Native American Raindrop Technique of Massage and includes Tibetan Reflexology to create an experience that sounds devine and very much needed by this mum. With 4 young children, a lack of sleep,a husband that travels, finding time for myself can be a truely rare experience. Oh how I would love to be pampered by what sounds to be a truely unique experience. Cheers Chela

    1. Hello Chela, It is so hard when partners travel. My husband has travelled a bit but I only have two girls. You really do deserve some you time. Good luck. Rachel x

  16. Raindrop technique is their specialty
    and like everyone else I hope the winner of this massage is me!
    Do I deserve it more than a Mum of 11 - probably not
    but as a Mum of 2 I'd still like it alot.
    As adults we forget to take time out once in a while
    I'm sure you're guilty of that too Miss Redcliffe Style
    we get caught up in a daily grind
    and forget that we actually need to unwind.

  17. ooooh, that sounds just too divine! I would adore the two hours to just breathe and relax....by myself! with no children lol I love the sound of their speciality Raindrop massage using the Vita flex technique. my neck needs all the help it can get. Also, i am a firm believer in reflexology after a health scare. using combined reflexology and western medicine i conquered, and my dr attributed a large percentage of recovery on the reflexology! thanks Rach! i love the sacrifices you make to bring us the good stuff lol x

  18. Hi! I would love to win the Raindrop massage for my daughter who is 29 as she has been very unwell lately with an auto immune disease and is riddled with aches in her joints and numerous other things.
    It sounds very gentle, relaxing and just what she needs right now as she has not been able to work very much and could not afford it herself.
    Having said that, I am sure everyone could use this wonderful service as life has become so hustle bustle!
